Larnaca Biennale 2025
“Along lines and traces”
In this fourth Larnaca Biennale, ́lines and traces form the support upon which we can imagine metaphoric, symbolic, and physical expressions of how we make sense of our world and our placement in it.
“I’m honored to be selected for Larnaca Biennale 2025, with my work included among 117 artworks by artists and collectives from 43 countries — the largest selection in the Biennale’s history. I’m featuring five aluminium photographs from the ongoing body of work Lines Beneath the Surface.”
– Marat Hasanov

Marat’s photographic series explores how lines form symbolic, physical, and emotional connections—shaping our understanding of identity, history, and the spaces we inhabit. Each image captures how we navigate, interpret, and imprint ourselves upon the world, creating meaning through movement, repetition, and interaction.
Veins
Organic veins of a banana leaf echo the precise geometry of architectural lines, revealing a hidden harmony between nature and human creation.

The eye
The photograph taken from within the modern “Oculus” building—a striking architectural structure shaped as a human eye—invites viewers to look upwards, where light and sky filter through multiple openings, symbolizing human perception, vision, and aspiration.

Fluid Sail
An inverted reflection of a yacht mast distorted by water introduces ambiguity and psychological depth, as hidden faces and forms emerge unexpectedly—reminding us how our traces can become emotionally charged, abstract, and deeply personal.
Exhibition is open from 15th October to 30th November 2025 in Larnaca
